The Run Machine Unveiled

Yesterday we unveiled something very special that we’ve been working on for a while - the Run Machine, a specially created vehicle which we produced with specialist vehicle convertor JC Payne and provided to Middlesex Cricket.

The Run Machine will be Middlesex Cricket’s mobile cricket activation, which will be taking cricket to communities across the UK to find future sportsmen and women! A vehicle of this type has never been created in the world of cricket, and marks an exciting moment for both the Middlesex County Cricket Club and VMS.

Alongside some of the team from VMS and their families, I met with Mike O’Farrell at Lord’s Cricket Ground at the 16th August Vitality Blast match where Middlesex Cricket took on Essex Cricket, to see the Run Machine in all its finalised glory and unveil the vehicle to all attending. After Mike cut the ribbon we were joined by England and Middlesex cricket legends Mike Gatting and John Emburey who came to see the finalised vehicle.

The Run Machine has been designed so it can transport Middlesex Cricket’s activation to provide cricket ‘on the go’ to clubs, schools, activation centres or high streets, anywhere around the county, with the aim of significantly boosting cricket participation numbers within Middlesex moving forwards.

Working with JC Payne, we designed and adapted the vehicle from the chassis up so that all cricket equipment, a bespoke pop-up inflatable cricket net, two BOLA junior bowling machines, plus two LED flat-screen TVs to play engaging Middlesex Cricket promotional video content would be housed within the vehicle itself. Fully liveried up with Middlesex branding, the Run Machine will be touring Middlesex and surrounding areas later this year.

We are really proud to have been able to bespoke build this special vehicle for Middlesex Cricket. When we spoke with the team at Middlesex, they were looking to create a piece of engaging, movable promotional activity that would help to encourage youngsters into playing cricket. Our infrastructure, combined with the ability of JC Payne to design and fit vehicles to exacting specifications meant we knew we would be able to help.

We really hope that the Run Machine will help take the sport to the people and potentially help to inspire and generate future sporting talent for the club!
